Belize, june 30

Mr. Ramon Cervantes, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration, received Dr. Ahmed Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, as part of the latter's official visit, with an accompanying delegation, to Belize and other countries.

This visit was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for political consultations, as the first meeting in the aforementioned series of political consultations.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. Both sides also discussed various economic and trade issues, including investment and post-pandemic recovery, in addition to regional and multilateral issues, and cooperation in the fields of energy, education and infrastructure. The status of various bilateral cooperation agreements was also followed up, with a commitment to move forward and sign them as soon as possible, these agreements include mutual visa exemption and cooperation in the fields of education and culture.
