The bilateral relations between both countries have developed a qualitative relationship and multiple exchange of visits between officials. They held their first political consultation between the two countries in El Salvador in 2013, during the visit of his excellency the Ambassador HE Ali bin Fahad Al-Hajri and his accompanying delegation. In this visit they signed a variety of bilateral agreements between the two countries in several areas.

HE Ambassador / Ali Bin Fahad Al-Hajri former Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, paid a visit to the Republic of El Salvador in October 2013, in the framework of a session of bilateral consultations between the two countries.
- On the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly in New York at its 59 former president of the Republic of El Salvador, Mr. Antonio Saca met with Palestinian assets in the presence of His Highness the Amir (may Allah protect him).

On the sidelines of the International Development Conference held in Doha from November 29th to December 2nd 2008, a follow up meeting was held with His Highness the Father Amir (may Allah protect him), and Miss. Ana Vilma Escobar, Former Salvadoran Vice President in Mr. Antonio Saca government.

The former First Lady of El Salvador, Dr. Vanda Pignato visited Qatar during the month of February 2013, and met with HH Sheikha Moza Nasser, Consort of His Highness the Father Amir (God preserve). Dr. Pignato also met with the Minister of Education and Higher Education and the former Minister of Social Affairs.

HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani, Governor of Qatar in the Central Bank, met on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, in October 2015 in Peru, with the President of the Central Bank of El Salvador HE Oscar Cabrera, who presented to HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani, a number of projects for El Salvador.

HE Mr. Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Towar Vice President of Qatar Chamber of Industry and Commerce and his counterpart HE Javier Steiner, head of the Salvadoran Chamber of Industry and Commerce , on the sidelines of the Doha Forum, which was held during the period between May 21st to 23rd, 2016. The two sides discussed investment opportunities existing in both countries.

On the sidelines of the Doha's XVI forum, HE Mr. Ibrahim Abdullah Bichara the president of the Electrical Companies in El Salvador, met with officials of Qatar's General Corporation for Electricity and Water "Kahramaa".

The State of Qatar has also invited various Salvadoran officials to attend a number of meetings and forums, the latest visit by His Excellency Dr. Violeta Menjivar, Minister of Health in El Salvador, to participate in the World Summit for Innovation in Health Care Conference.
