Friendly soccer match between the State of Qatar and El Salvador

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in El Salvador held an event on Sunday, July 4, in which it was possible to enjoy the live broadcast of the first official match between the soccer selection of the State of Qatar and the soccer selection of the Republic of El Salvador, in a friendly match that took place at the Aldo Drosina stadium in Pula in Croatia, as part of the preparations for the 2021 Gold Cup, and taking into account the host of the 2022 World Cup, the State of Qatar.

Qatari representatives in the country enjoyed a morning full of emotion together with senior government officials and representatives, prominent athletes and journalists, and other representatives of the Salvadoran community who share a passion for soccer.

Among the distinguished government authorities who attended the event are Mr. Ernesto Castro, President of the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Felix Ulloa, Vice President of the Republic, the Minister of Labor Mr. Rolando Castro, Mrs. Vice Minister of Foreign Relations Adriana Mira, Mrs. Lily Pacas, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Yamil Bukele, President of INDES, Mr. Luis Rodriguez, President of CABEI, Mr. Juan Pablo Duran and President of BANDESAL.

Likewise, it was attended by high authorities of the Soccer Federation in El Salvador, former professional players such as the legendary Jorge “Mágico” González and prominent sports journalists in the country.

In a recent interview Mr. Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee of Qatar commented: “This will be the first global event (World Cup 2022) that people will be able to attend and celebrate together overcoming the pandemic. As vaccines become available, we are seeing a gradual return to normalcy, and as a result, we are confident that we will be able to organize a safe event that everyone can enjoy.”

The State of Qatar is the first country in the Middle East to host the World Cup and is committed to running the long-awaited event successfully.
